HOW DO WE LISTEN? Is it only with our ears? Or can we hear through bone, or even with our eyes?
Through our collaboration with sound artist and curator Tarek Atoui and Bergen’s international art triennial Bergen Assembly, we will investigate how deaf people’s experiences of listening can influence and expand the ways in which we understand sound, space and even musical instruments themselves.
For this project, pioneering composers Pauline Oliveros and Gerhard Stäbler have been invited to create new pieces for the ensemble and host specially constructed instruments that radically challenge the way we play and listen to music.
Everything will take place at Sentralbadet. Rehearsals will be open to the public, you’ll have a chance to put questions to our musicians and each project will end with a concert.
